Building the Community
Our classes and workshops could neither exist nor be sustained without the community that supports them - and in particular, we are grateful to the stars of our show - the Crew.
The Crew are responsible for moving the chairs out of the way, cleaning the floor, setting out the lights and generally making the space lovely before each dance. At the end, the lights are packed up and the chairs returned to their normal positions.

Artwork and Installations
5Rhythms the movement practice is closely connected to the visual and performing arts and one tradition in the 5Rhythms community has long been to create installations or altars as an artistic, conceptual, centrepiece for each dance.
If you’re interested in occasionally creating installations or altars for the dances and workshops we run, please get in touch. Free or reduced price entry to the events is on offer for contributing artists.

Dance Space Etiquette
We come together to practice 5Rhythms. We are drug- and alcohol-free. We are adults responsible for our own wellbeing. We are aware of and respect each others’ bodies and boundaries. We touch only with mutual consent. We dance barefoot, in grippy socks or soft dance shoes. We avoid synthetic perfumes. We turn our phones off. We do not take photos/video or use Shazam. We communicate using movement not words. We participate, we do not spectate.

What to expect
If this is the first time you’ve thought about attending a 5Rhythms® class, it might be a little daunting. Hopefully these notes will enable you to relax and enjoy the class.
Beginners are always welcome, let us know if you’re new and we’ll answer any other questions you have.
This is not a spectator sport: nobody will be watching you.
There is nothing to get right or wrong: no steps to learn.

If you need support during or after the class
In work of this nature, things will arise in the body, mind and soul. Sometimes huge shifts occur, and other times smaller feelings or questions come to the surface. If you need support during or after a class please reach out to Zsuzsi, Paul or Catherine.
If you find yourself wanting to leave early, ask yourself if maybe there is something arising that you can move with, it’s all material to bring into the dance.
